SysAdmin Day Approacheth: Are you Ready?
The Puppet Labs office is buzzing with excitement over our new favorite holiday: July 29th (annually, the last Friday in July) is System Administrator Appreciation Day! We’re pumped to celebrate the brave, creative, and determined souls who keep the proverbial server lights on.
To celebrate, we’re holding a contest for the best “Day in the Life of a SysAdmin” stories. In your own words (350 or less), tell us about your ideal day as a sysadmin. Why do you do it? Why do you love it? What’s your iconic, everything-was-burning-and-I-saved-it tale—and what constitues a “normal” day? Our super-secret panel of reviewers will select a handful of the best stories, and the winners will receive Puppet Labs t-shirts, Pro Puppet books, and fame and glory by having their tales published on our blog.
Also, if you have a lovely, data-saving sysadmin you want to thank, we’re taking nominations (relieving you from that stressful SysAdmin’s Eve shopping trip). Tell us a tale about that time they put out all the fires, tell us how they keep things running daily. In short, tell us why your SysAdmin is so important.

Will our shirts be missing resource names in their declarations?
Jeff, yes (how embarrassing…)
I offer two solutions for making the current t-shirt parseable Puppet syntax.
a) Capitalize the first letter so it becomes a resource default.
b) Add a patch with your name on it and a colon to insert after the first curly brace.
Or we could come up with a bonus prize for those of you who know Puppet well enough to complain about the incorrect syntax on the current t-shirt :)

Today, no company, whether small or large firmochki holding is not working properly without the aid coming, or are within their own IT-department, but so necessary and essential for system administrators.
Thanks to them we are free to enjoy the benefits of modern technology, and exchange useful information, work with any program. Do not accidentally trade system administrator is very similar to the activities of a doctor. When everything is working well, they are not remembered, but it’s worth something to fail – all instantly require assistance.
Most system administrators – rounders. It so happens that many companies want to have the staff person who will be responsible for “all computer”. This is usually non-core companies. And they want one or two rather than three dozen certified professionals. And this man was able to fill and cartridges, and the mail server up.
