How much money was raised in the Series B?
The Series B round was $5 million. This expands on the Series A investment of $2.25 million in 2009.
Who were the investors in this round of funding?
Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) led the Series B. True Ventures and Radar Partners continued their participation by investing in this round. True and Radar, as well as Emerson Street Partners, were investors in our Series A round.
How will the money be used?
The primary focus of this investment is to significantly increase the size of our engineering team so we can aggressively pursue the opportunity for building a complete platform for data center automation.

How will the structure of the board of directors change with the new investment?
Kevin Compton, a Partner and Radar Partners, will join Puppet Labs’ board of directors. Compton will represent KPCB’s interest on the board. Compton has a very successful and extensive track record as a partner at KPCB, where he led numerous enterprise software investments. Puneet Agarwal, Partner at True Ventures, and Luke Kanies, CEO of Puppet Labs, will continue their duties as board members. Two more additional seats on the board will be filled in the near future.
Which KPCB partner led the investment?
Matt Murphy led the investment process. He is a Partner at KPCB and also manages the iFund at KPCB.
Is this KPCB’s first investment in Oregon?
Yes, this is the first investment that the KPCB funds have made in the state of Oregon.
Will Puppet Labs remain in Oregon?
The plan is for Puppet Labs to keep its headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
