Luke Kanies | Founder / CEO
Luke founded Puppet and Puppet Labs in 2005 out of fear and desperation, with the goal of producing better operations tools and changing how we manage systems. He has been publishing and speaking on his work in system administration since 1997, focusing on development since 2001. He has developed and published multiple simple sysadmin tools and contributed to established products like Cfengine, and has presented on Puppet and other tools around the world, including at OSCON, LISA, Linux.Conf.au, and FOSS.in. His work with Puppet has been an important part of DevOps and delivering on the promise of cloud computing. He serves as a board member for the Technology Association of Oregon.
Nigel Kersten | CIO
Nigel came to Puppet Labs from Google HQ in Mountain View, where he was responsible for the design and implementation of one of the largest Puppet deployments in the world. He's been a sysadmin for Linux and Mac deployments since before Mac OS became a UNIX, and was voted one of the 25 Most Influential People in the Mac Technical Community in 2006.
Bill Koefoed | CFO
Bill joined Puppet Labs from Microsoft, where he was the CFO of Skype. Prior to Skype, Bill held roles as General Manager Investors Relations and General Manager of IT Finance & Strategy for Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Bill held leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard Company, PwC Consulting and Arthur Andersen. Bill received his BS and MBA degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
Scott Campbell | Sales
Scott has played a prominent role in several startup software companies. Most recently, Scott spent 4 years as the Sr. VP of Global Sales at Jive Software. Prior to Jive, Scott spent 6 years at Tripwire, a leading provider of security and compliance solutions. While at Tripwire, Scott lead the Western Region Field Sales and Inside Sales organizations. Prior to Tripwire, Scott spent 5 years as the Director Sales at Rogue Wave Software, a provider of software development tools that had a successful IPO in 1997.
Pervaiz Choudhry | North America Field Operations
Pervaiz has a successful track record spanning over 20 years in sales, business development and marketing for enterprise technology solutions. Prior to joining Puppet Labs he spent seven years at Splunk, where he held multiple roles in sales and business development, and helped the organization grow from 30 employees to a publicly traded global organization. Prior to Splunk, Pervaiz held senior positions at leading organizations including BEA Systems, WebLogic Corporation, Sybase Systems and IBM Corporation.
Julie Crawford | Finance & Administration
Julie has 17 years of financial, accounting, and business experience. Most recently, she ran her own financial consulting practice assisting fast-growing start-up companies. Earlier, as CFO/Corporate Controller of PolyServe, she played a key role in the company’s sale to HP. Prior to PolyServe, she served as a Senior Finance Manager at InFocus Corporation.
Holly Files | Customer Success
Holly Files has spent her career building and growing customer-facing organizations. With over 25 years in the enterprise software space, providing operational and services leadership; she has deep experience in helping fast-growth businesses to create both scalable organizations and customers who become raving fans. Most recently she was co-founder of VelocX, a business-consulting firm with a unique ability to quickly assess, strategize and implement programs as well as align people to increase the velocity of their growth. Prior to VelocX she held senior executive positions for NetIQ - a systems management, security and web analytic software supplier - where she was responsible for their $100M services business unit; WebTrends; Chockstone; and other enterprise software companies.
David Greenberg | Corporate Marketing
David brings more than 15 years of experience in marketing leadership positions in the high-growth technology sector. Prior to joining Puppet Labs, David was the Senior Vice President of Marketing at Urban Airship where he led both the worldwide corporate and product Marketing teams and grew the company over 300% in as many years. Before that, he was instrumental in market share growth at Jive Software, helping prepare them for IPO in 2011. David has also held key leadership positions at Corrigo, Unicru (acquired by Kronos) and Golden Books Entertainment Group, and holds a B.S. degree from Colorado College.
Nathan Rawlins | Product Marketing
Nathan joined Puppet Labs from Jive Software, where he led Jive's product marketing, technical marketing, web, and brand teams. While at Jive, he helped define the social business category, and grow revenue by over six hundred percent. Previously, he led worldwide product marketing at Serena Software. He began his career as a product manager, pioneering ecommerce and web content management systems at FatWire and OpenMarket.
Mukesh Sharma | Europe, Middle-East & Africa
Mukesh brings extensive international sales and business development experience with a focus across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Mukesh joined Puppet Labs from cloud services provider Canopy where he was COO responsible for global expansion and field operations. Prior to Canopy, he led the Cloud & Virtualization business unit, EMEA at EMC. Mukesh also spent time at VMware holding various roles, focusing on key technology alliances and the development of the EMEA desktop virtualization business. Mukesh has a bachelor’s degree in International Business from University of Greenwich and an Executive MBA from University of Oxford.
Brian Stein | Engineering & Product Development
Brian joins Puppet Labs most recently from Red Hat where he was the VP of Engineering. During his 11 years at Red Hat Brian came to lead a worldwide engineering team responsible for delivering Red Hat's family of cloud products, including virtualization management, OpenStack, cloud orchestration, Linux provisioning, JBoss middleware management, certificate server, and directory server. Prior to Red Hat Brian served as co-founder of RBTG and Director of Professional Services at Ars Digita.
Laura Stepp | Human Resources & Organization Development
Laura brings over 18 years of progressive experience in strategic human resources and organization development that spans multiple industries and a variety of global roles. Laura was HR Director for Intel’s Software and Services Group, as well as the IT organization. She specializes in strategic planning, organization design and development, workforce planning and leadership assessment, and is passionate about developing innovative, high-performance cultures. Prior to Intel, Laura worked at Nike, Mentor Graphics Corp., and as an independent consultant. Laura is also an accredited coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF).
